Tom Anderson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Before founding IT4Causes, Tom Anderson had a long career managing software engineering and information technology at several companies, including Honeywell and Capital One. Tom was heavily involved in community volunteerism at these firms and in the process developed a deep passion for helping nonprofits serve their missions. Between 2012 and 2014, Tom decided to re-tool his career to focus more on impact and servant leadership. He completed the Leadership Metro Richmond program as well as a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Virginia Commonwealth University. The concept for IT4Causes grew out of his studies in these programs and was refined and improved through community conversations and pilots. Over time, he solidified the business model: deliver great information technology services to nonprofits with dramatically lower costs using a few paid staff supplemented with lots of skilled IT volunteers and interns. Outside of IT4Causes, Tom lives his passion for community service as a Board member of Daily Planet Health Services, Commodore of the Brandermill Sailing Club, and an active member of the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN).
